Dr Ganesh Vythilingam is a paediatric surgeon and senior lecturer at the University of Malaya. He obtained his undergraduate (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery, MBBS) in Melaka Manipal Medical College in 2003. Subsequently he completed his Membership to the Royal College of Surgeons (Ireland) in 2010 and postgraduate (Master of Pediatric Surgery, MSurg UM) in 2012. He did his gazettement for Paediatric Surgery at the Paediatric Institute, Hospital Kuala Lumpur prior to joining University Malaya in 2013. In 2014 he started his PhD and was a Visiting Senior Scientist at the Laboratory for Regenerative Medicine & Pharmaco-biology/ Merck Serono Chair in Drug Delivery Institute of Bioengineering, School of Life Sciences, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) Switzerland. He completed his PhD in 2018 following submission of his dissertation entitled Bioengineered Collagen Graft for Urethral Reconstruction in Animal Models. His PhD work has led to a patent being filed in Switzerland and an approved first in man clinical trial in UMMC. He is currently undergoing a Training Fellowship in Paediatric Urology at Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College London Hospitals, London, UK for 2 years. The post is accredited by the Joint Committee on Paediatric Urology (JCPU) towards the Fellow of the European Academy of Paediatric Urology (FEAPU) certificate and examination.
